NYC Bar Find: Tooker Alley

TOOKER ALLEY, PROSPECT HEIGHTS

This understated, yet quietly quirky artisanal cocktail bar serves up undoubtedly stylish tipples, which they evidently take very seriously. Just take a peek at their multi-page old-timey style menu which offers readers insight into the history of what they’re drinking as well as the bar’s manifesto which is to be “consciously no-brow, militantly inclusive, and ceaselessly creative.”

In many ways Tooker Alley is living up to its manifesto by attracting an ethnically diverse, freethinking crowd representative of the Prospect Heights neighbourhood. It helps too that they offer pages in the menu for bar guests to express their creativity through doodling, note taking or whatever that vibe-y jazz music inspires them to draw.

Just look around ”“ it’s hard not to picture Tooker Alley as the place for early 20th century literary folk to gather and discuss the arts, politics and the meaning of life.

Best Bit: The perfect spot to quietly discuss the inspirations you discovered earlier at The Brooklyn Museum (which is literally right around the corner).
