NYC Restaurant Find: Takashi

Takashi is an imaginative, slightly oddball restaurant situated in the West Village that specializes in Yakiniku, the Japanese BBQ style that originates from Osaka, a city with a sizeable number of Korean migrants who have naturally influenced the regional cuisine.

Nothing is wasted at Takashi. On the menu you’ll find some rather exotic parts of the cow (Testicargot anyone?) but less adventurous diners shouldn’t worry ”“ just about any part of the cow can be BBQ’ed at your table, including plenty of prime beef options. If buttery cuts of beef are more your thing, order the short ribs, beef cheek and the shoulder.

Best Bit: Cooking instructions and beefy factoids are whimsically illustrated on the restaurant’s blackboard.
