MAST BROTHERS CHOCOLATE, WILLIAMSBURG

A must visit spot as you wander the streets of Williamsburg is Mast Brothers Chocolate, an artisanal chocolate factory and store best known for its chocolates that surely inspired Brooklyn’s now ubiquitous craft movement.

We can thank founders Michael and Rick Mast for their devoted chocolate making process where only the best ingredients are sourced and batches are small, allowing them to taste throughout the process. The result is as sophisticated as we see in the old word, remarkable in texture and flavor and surprising where contemporary ingredients come into play such as Stumptown coffee, Maine Sea Salt, and Crown Maple Syrup.

The store itself has an unfussy, rustic vibe where visitors can sample each of the flavours and even peek over into the factory to get sense of the chocolate making process.

Best Bit: The perfect gift for a dinner party host. Come dessert time, guests with an affection for design will swoon not only over the chocolate but also the beautiful packaging of golden foil and thick vintage inspired Italian paper.
