NYC Restaurant Find: Il Gattopardo

Il Gattopardo is no secret to its slew of regulars who are considered the high ups of New York City and are often found at upscale power lunches and business dinners around millionaire’s row. My opinion is that this restaurant is a secret that uptown folks have kept from downtown New Yorkers for far too long.

I’m going to say with confidence that the food at Il Gattopardo is the most authentic southern Italian cuisine that this city has to offer. It comes without even a smidgen of American influence and is cooked with a big emphasis on simplicity and contemporary elegance.

The Neapolitan food and the doting service from passionate restaurant manager Luigi is what makes Il Gattopardo very much worth the trip uptown. Come with high expectations of the food (they will be met) but leave your expectations for a buzzing restaurant vibe downtown.
