Coffee Find: Devoción NYC

Escaping the bustling crowds and shrieking sirens of New York City seems all but impossible in this grinding metropolis (not that we’re complaining!). That’s why Devoción, a former meatpacking plant-turned-café on the quiet end of Grand Street in Williamsburg, is such a find – a lush oasis-like space humming with relaxed energy and the finest Colombian-sourced coffee.

Enter past the exposed roasting plant into the breezy, sky-lit atrium ”“ all raw brick, exposed steel and plush chesterfield couches ”“ dominated by an enormous mural-like living plant wall, brimming with over 2,000 plant varieties, including, of course, Colombian coffee plants.

As the name suggests, Devoción’s commitment to an exquisite cup of coffee is palpable, with coffee beans sourced from micro-lot farms in remote areas of Colombia as well as obscure flavors like Andean blueberry, sour grape, and mandarin peel.

Pair your coffee with pillowy poppy seed or hibiscus doughnuts, caramelized Ceci Cela croissants or Colombian bocadillos, or try a refreshing, fruit loaded salpicón. However, plan on staying in this hidden paradise for a while before returning to the urban crush outside.
