Cafe Find: Spreadhouse Cafe NYC

With restaurants and cafes in New York, you’ve always had to compromise. Maybe the food is good but it’s always too crowded. Or it’s near your apartment, but it’s not open when you leave for work. Maybe they make incredible coffee, but there’s no wifi. Or if they do have wifi maybe there’s only one outlet. You’ve always had to compromise, that is, until Spreadhouse Cafe NYC opened on the Lower East Side last year, and suddenly gave you everything you wanted at once.

Spreadhouse Cafe is a gem so precious we almost don’t want to tell you about it. It opens at 7:30am and stays open until midnight. It’s never too crowded, and the space is big and airy. There are enough seating options to keep you entertained for days and plenty of outlets. There’s a “stay and work on your laptop for hours if you want” attitude, and yet they serve alcohol in the evenings. There’s no shortage of good food. Make it your second office or come with some friends for a drink, but know that once you enter you may never feel the need to leave.

DanaDeLaskiDana is originally from Washington, DC, is now based in NYC, but is most excited when she’s traveling. She’s a street-food obsessed food and travel writer who spends her free time watching Anthony Bourdain reruns and exploring the nooks and crannies of her NYC neighborhood, Chinatown. Her heart is torn between Paris, the Greek Islands, Japan, and Penang, so her dream last supper would look something like a four course meal of sashimi, laksa, fresh grilled octopus, and a heaping plate of gooey French cheese.
